After two and a half months of stop, the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum reopens on Tuesday 2 June in compliance with all the rules of social distancing. From the day of the Republic Day the gates will be open from 10. 30 at 19. 30 (last entry hours 18. 00) up to the month of October, respecting Tuesday as the closing day of the week, with the exception of the first day of opening, to allow periodic sanitization of the rooms. Through the two entrances of Corso Resina and Viale dei Papiri Ercolanesi, visitors will be able to access for time slots of 15 minutes with a maximum number of entrances for 15 people, including children and adolescents. This provides for the maximum influx of 60 people distributed in each hour, equal to a maximum of 480 daily entrances.
At the check point there will be body temperature control and mask requirement. Once you have crossed the ticket control, you can access the Boat Pavilion where the boat discovered on the ancient beach and a series of objects that bind Herculaneum to the sea are exposed. We then move on to the Antiquarium where the permanent exhibition “SplendOri. The luxury of ornaments in Herculaneum´ with about two hundred precious objects belonging to the ancient Herculaneum; the archaeological area will be accessed through the Martusciello Gallery, from which the visitor will be able to visit the entire excavation through a circular route, freely modulating the overall duration of his visit with the help of the indications provided by security personnel and signs. Those with motor disabilities can contact the security staff present at the entrance, who will give directions on the visit route. Tours with a tour guide will also be allowed.
The information service will be carried out at an external desk . The bookshop has also been opened and the audio guide service has been completely renewed and offers the app dedicated to the Park website at a very affordable price. In this first phase, the focus is on a concrete aspect thanks to the support of the Park staff, orientation signage, intensified sanitation of the common areas, availability of gel with dispenser. For the second phase, the first steps towards a direction that will see the services increasingly digitalized are already outlined.
For tourists and visitors there are discounted rates: starting from June 2nd single ticket 10 euro; young people between 18 and 25 2euro ticket years; gratuity and reductions as per legislation. Tickets can be purchased exclusively online, starting from Monday 1 June from 12. 00 on the website www.ticketone.it. Finally, from Tuesday 2 June, the parking lot of the Municipality in Viale dei Papiri Ercolanesi will be functioning regularly. The Maiuri Park is also open, a green lung so dear to the Herculaneum people.
