Lissner presents the season, waiting for Muti in February

Here is the San Carlo by Stephane Lissner: announces the season 2020 – 2021 and leaves en plein air, from Piazza Plebiscito with a summer poster of stars, one above all Jonas Kaufmann, Radames dell'Aida. The partnership is renewed with Riccardo Muti who will direct Mozart's Don Giovanni in February, directed by Chiara Muti. The master will return on May 9 2021 with the Wiener Philharmoniker. From 16 January 2021 Verdi's Rigoletto is back under the direction of Giancarlo Cobelli, directed by Stefano Ranzani.

From 13 at the 26 March a Rossini title, Il Turco in Italia with direction Antonio Calenda, on the podium Carlo Montanaro and Julie Fuchs in the role of Fiorilla. Richard Strauss is on the billboard from 11 on 20 April 2021 with Salome directed by Manfred Schweigkofler and Vida Miknevičiūtė on her debut at San Carlo. Two productions of Ferzan Ozpetek are also back: Puccini's Madama Butterfly (from 30 April to 13 May) for the direction by Dan Ettinger with Anna Pirozzi and La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, on the podium Karel Mark Chichon. An expected debut is that of the Latvian mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca as Bizet's Carmen (20 to 26 June) with the direction of Dan Ettinger, installation by Daniele Finzi Pasca.

From to 31 July there is The elixir of love by Gaetano Donizetti signed Damiano Michieletto, will direct Riccardo Frizza, Rosa Feola will be Adina and Xavier Anduaga will be Nemorino. From to 25 September again a title of Bizet, Les pecheurs de perles, for the direction of Marco Armiliato, directed by the Japanese Yoshi Oida and Lawrence Brownlee in the role of Nadir. From to 24 October 2021 My Fair Lady by Frederick Loewe. Lissner thanked Paolo Pinamonti “for the work done on programming, which I then worked on – he concluded – to define the billboard”.
